Solid lines (7, 9) are yang, broken (6, 8) yin. The bottom three lines form the lower trigram, the top three the upper, and the King Wen table turns that pair into one of the sixty-four. Any changing line then flips to its opposite, and a second hexagram rises behind the first: the “into,” the before-and-after.
